    This might be the dumbest “test” I’ve ever seen. Been in the trade since I’m 14 years old, maybe needed to solder 3x in my career. We don’t work with copper. Code mandates it isn’t even allowed on our pump trim-outs anymore, they want screwed brass. Only time you’d ever use this “skill” is if dealing with an ANCIENT system at this point and honestly you’d be required to bring it up to code. Only time you are ever gonna touch a torch is to head up a stuck joint or to ballpeen a bad weld basically. Stop teaching your apprentices useless crap. Give them a test making up grooved pipe or something instead or trimming out a dry valve.

    There is a solar farm surrounding our property. They pushed up 1,200 acres of thriving pine trees put them in large piles and set them on fire . The smoke made us all sick. They had rules to go by for the construction they could only work six days a week from sunup to sundown. Not only did they work on Sunday they put up lights and worked through the night. They had no concern for what they were doing to those of us who live around the project. They also said they were going to hire 200 people to build this project. They had 200 people working for them alright but they brought them in from other places. They didn't bring any jobs to our community like they said they were.

    I have an honest question. How much money do they expect to make if they pull all the stumps, level out with dozers, pull the topsoil back, grade it out with scrapers, and then put hte topsoil back, then seed it.... Thats all before they put the poles in the ground. Thats shocking. at 25:00 he explains it all. Its the government, and they are going to pass all these expenses on to the people in the grid. Solar is cheap. Solar costs less than nuclear, natgas, wind, coal in the USA, etc.... But with all this ground work, it will be VERY expensive. If I was running this plant, I would leave the stumps in the ground, mow, put up the poles, and put up a fence to turn this ground into grazing for sheep. I could have had electricity flowing out of this site in less than 1 month, but instead the people running this job spent the first month waiting for the caterpillar scrapers, dozers, stump pullers, and raking equipment to get trucked in. Here's the kicker. Solar panels at this point in time have a 30 year lifespan, so by the time they are ready to pull out the panels, pull out the poles, the stumps would have rotted and sunk into the ground, and it would not have made one damn bit of different if you pulled all the stumps out.

    Typical American “union training center “ where no one is actually training anyone. No one explaining basic things so that the kids not smearing the wall up.I watch videos made by Real English Bricklayers who Really know how to Teach, not just let kids play around clueless. These union instructors are incompetent sometimes and even unqualified Brick and mortar are dead in this woke broken nation

    These videos don’t show Anything, it’s just a lot of talk. One guy doing some easy mock wall build and why is there no one else around . The bricklayers are a joke in this no standards nation compared to the English and so many others but it’s not the American guys fault. Unions have really no idea how to teach the skills. Training and teaching are entirely different. I was in the union for over 30 years way back and I know exactly what I’m saying No One Teaches anything on the job,it’s no one’s job or responsibility for teaching anyone anything and the instructors at the hall mostly have no clue how to teach and they might not even know enough themselves. Union masonry jobs are affirmative action special needs racist politics and No Merit No Standards system where you’re not likely to fit in if you’re a white Male with actual abilities knowledge and skills

  • @toecutter1015

    This video shows absolutely Nothing about the PCC trade There’s 2 apprentices Teaching??? And ones a second year apprentice pretending that she knows something about Caulking ( which is actually the most difficult and complicated of all the specialty skills and should not really even be connected to the bricklayers in any way since they’re radically different things) Anyway this 2nd year apprentice has some kind of wood pieces or whatever layed flat on the little table spaced apart and looks like backer rod in between them?? Why not have a mock window frame or door frame So it makes sense?? They don’t actually Show Her running the gun or knifing, sealing ANYTHING!!! This is so typical of the pcc trade and the bricklayers union in this Woke Broken No Standards Nation That 3rd year bricklayer apprentice Has Obviously Never been taught How to lay brick himself and He’s Teaching?? A 3rd year apprentice bricklayer over in the UK and many other countries would be so much better faster and more skilled and all around knowledgeable than this kid who obviously hasn’t been taught much But then This Country doesn’t Teach The Trades whether it’s bricklaying or caulking I was in the bricklayers union in this Now Woke broken No standards nation for over 30 years ( started back in the 80s now retired) and was fortunate enough to work with a few who Actually Knew the Trades and Skills and how to do it all from set up to finish and standards and expectations were extremely high but those Geezers were Dinosaurs even back then Most of the rest of the companies were sketchy shoddy flim flam etc Shocking considering the enormous amounts of money involved in some. This video Shows Absolutely Nothing A few guys washing down an old industrial brick building and that’s it You have a kid teaching bricklaying that doesn’t even have basic skills and a 2nd year apprentice girl who’s talking about how she enjoys teaching all about the trades and she’s absolutely Clueless herself Only in America are people So Arrogant!! I would have Loved to actually Be there and challenge her to caulk and tool Anything. I could literally ask her 100 different questions about caulking and the industry and she wouldn’t know Anything. America is Truly a No Merit No Standards Affirmative action special needs swamp The Real High Level Restorations like they do over in London COULDNT be done here, at least not by any union companies They don’t have the sense or sensibilities They’re arrogant and worry more about political special needs and other things than the actual Work and there’s Never Inspectors on any of even the multi million dollar projects and if there are, they don’t know what they’re even looking at. I don’t see any Americans putting out videos Anything even Close to the Amazing Levels of Skill and even total perfection that the English and many others are doing. It’s Way too demanding as far as skill and ability standards safety and everything else This Nation is Such a pitiful joke now

      The real Renewable Energy Engineers, like me, never cut a tree, neither destroy the soil, to install photovoltaic panels. We used base installed of groups 32 to 50 photovoltaics 3 or four meters over the soil, letting the grass and the food to grew behind and under the photovoltaic panels..If there is a tree, ok, we install the solar panels between the trees, avoiding the shadows,.... Because the trees avoid wind problems that could damage the panels, the trees give humidity ans lower the summer temperatures, that means the photovoltaic panels work better, given between 10 per cent and 30 per cent of more solar energy. But we are all Renewable Energy Engineers, we never hire workers from building construction sites, without knowledge of solar panels. The designer of this land site is a Renewable Energy specialits the same that a butcher is to a surgeon. I m crying in anger watching what this ignorants are doing with thr land. Never use, never, somebody from construction companies..Renewable Energy must be there to give more nature and wilderness and food to the land, not to destroy it. Using this machines for the construction site, it is like using a cannon to kill flies, you wil never get a fly down, but you will destroy everything around

    We are in a race to destroy all that sustains us in the name of green energy. There are plenty enough brown fields and abandoned city spaces that could accomplish the same thing all over our country. Sanctioned money grabbers with no intent of fair play. Big money does as big money wants. Destroy farm land and pretend its for the better of all. A huge sham. Solar and renewables are a wonderful concept. As usual the majority will blindly bow down to the mighty dollar because it is so enticing.The land will never produce food again. NEVER! Ahh but no debate's allowed. Even where the community can protest these SOLAR INDUSTRIAL POWER PLANTS they are usually stifled. Solar farms sound so much more warm and fuzzy. I wish we were watching my union brothers dismantle inner city blight and long abandoned factories of the industrial revolution to install this experiment. Alas I digress.

    Removing topsoil means it will never be farmed again after decommissioning - if the leases ever ends. These are Solar power plants with inverters and substations - not a solar farm , call it what it is

    • @beyondfossil
      @beyondfossil 11 месяцев назад

      They do not remove all of the topsoil and it would actually cost more time & money to unnecessarily do so. Some solar projects may not need to do much but drive piles over _existing_ untouched soil. In this particular project, they had to regrade because it had over 1-million tree stumps from a previous pine tree farm (10:19). At 27:15, they replant vegetation in and around the solar farm to regenerate any disturbances to the soil. Solar panels have over 25yrs service life with still some 80+% of their capacity remaining at that time. Critically, these solar farms may actually _never_ be decommissioned. Because as the years and *decades* go by, these arrays can be progressively and constantly renewed - even as the arrays are still running - with the latest generation of solar panels/inverters. The decommissioned solar panels are still useful in other less critical roles and can be donated or sold in the used market for many more years of life before eventual recycling. Solar farm construction/maintenance is ground level work and does *not* require highly skilled labor to do the bulk of the work. It is the easiest power plant to build by far. Agricultural farms are not exactly shining beacons of environmentalism either. The many decades of solar operation would give the land a more peaceful existence than it ever had as an actual agricultural farm with fertilizer, pesticides and constant tilling that releases any captured CO₂ from the soil. Then there's displacement wild life especially burrowing animals. Solar technology uses all solid state electronics and requires *zero* material in-flow and out-flow so it would be a peaceful life for the soil beneath it for long continuous periods of time. From The National Family Farm Coalition: "Due to intensive farming practices, nearly half of all productive topsoil has disappeared in the last 150 years. In the US, topsoil is eroding 10 times more rapidly than it can be replaced. Fertilizers, with voluminous untreated animal waste from factory farms, are polluting ground and surface water across the country." Therefore, it is not incorrect nor inappropriate to call these solar projects "solar farms" as it is using the land for a productive social and economic purpose that has even less impact on the land than farming.
